Only One God by Rabbi David Bassous

Shema Yisrael Ado-nai Elo-henu Ado-nai Echad – Accept O’ Israel, The L-rd is your G-d, The L-rd is One.

Jews should verbalize these words of faith and knowledge to themselves at least four times a day.

This is a major principle of faith for a Jew.
This is one of the main mantras of a Jew.
The first sentence we teach a child when he/she starts to talk.
The last sentence a Jew utters before passing away.
The last sentence our holy martyrs uttered before going to their cruel and barbaric deaths.

We accept G-d’s unique oneness and unity. In the words of Rambam (Hilchot Yesodei Hatorah) A unique unity like no other, G-d’s unity cannot be split into parts. G-d has no parts, no partners, no shape or form. Just uniquely one, infinite, all-knowing, all-powerful, invisible, unchanging and above time.
